The best surprise, so far.

Updated: Mar 18, 2021

There was no denying that 2020 was a horrible year, and the beginning of 2021 had me questioning if we were going to have a repeat. After a year of "stuff" going on I'd grown used to it. My "adapt and conquer' muscles were strong. Although I wasn't prepared for what was about to happen.

We were made aware of an Arabian owner's family helping to disperse a herd. Of course I was willing to help. Finding homes for these horses is better than the stress and trauma of going through some of these auction pipelines. Christine knew the woman and that some of the horses at one time were related to a stallion she'd lost, so she was very interested. As we waited Saturday we were informed that no, the stallion of the herd wasn't related to Christine's stallion which really sucked for her. But she informed me that I'd probably want him. Of course I had no plans to get a stallion right now. My plans were to breed my mares, retain a colt and in three years at the soonest we'd have our first stallion.

Alas, the universe and powers at be had other plans. As Christine was getting information about the horses on the property she informed me the stallion was by GS Khochise+++//. I only know of two other Khochise sons that have stood or are standing at public stud. Quick backstory for those that may not understand the severity of this. GS Khochise is the one of the most winning son of the legendary Arabian stallion Khemosabi. He had 5 National Championships, 7 Reserve National Championships, and 26 Top 10's. His foals did just as well in show rings in a plethora if disciplines. If you wanted a solid line to Khemosabi that produced champions, Khochise was one of the stallions to do so. So when I was told that the stallion was by Khochise I sort of panicked. I needed to see him and I wanted him bad. I went up Sunday to see him and he was everything I expected him to be. I brought him home that day.

So without further a do, I present the first image of the senior stallion of Guiding Light Performance horses, McGraw SC. 2010 Mahogany bay Purebred Arabian stallion. Born 13 days after the passing of his sire GS Khochise+++// making him the youngest purebred son available standing to the public. He is out of the Ray Dor Echo, Bey Shah, Bask bred mare who's tail female line includes six crosses to Skowronek through Raffles and Naseem. He will be standing to public stud, it's just going to take some time to get him there because I hadn't planned to have a stallion so soon.

Happy 2021 everyone!
