The last week I've been in a dream state. It's unreal that I have McGraw SC (affectionately known as Mickey) in my possession. There's no way this is real right? How could I have been so lucky to have him pop up in the backyard locally? For those that may have missed last weeks posts, McGraw SC is a Khemosabi grandson through one of the most winning sons, GS Khochise. According to the Arabian Horse Association's Data source, there have been only three other stallions who have produced offspring by GS Khochise. It also lists three geldings who produced foals before being gelded. But based on the ages of these stallions, it's unsure if any of them are standing stud anymore or even alive.
The first week we've had him here has been mostly about getting him used to the new environment. He lived in a paddock with only tree cover his whole life and now he was having to adapt to a stall and turnout life. Since we don't know much about his training, a lot of this week has been testing to see what he knows and doesn't know. The good thing is he's well behaved and doesn't act very stud like. We haven't tried to bring him out to any of the mares so that might change but for now it's really nice.
So we sit here, patiently waiting for his papers to show up in the mail. Anxiously waiting more like it. Mostly because I still can't believe he's ours.
